A full width window below displaying the contents also has bevelled glass. The Bramah lock operates with its original key. The maker's trade label appears between the hinges.

These domestic post boxes were to be found in the entrance halls of Edwardian country & town houses for the benefit of the residents & guests. They would have been emptied once or twice a day by a servant, and the contents taken to the post office.
