A large George VI Black Leatherette Chamfered top Dispatch Box dating from 1940-50, the Royal Cypher stamped in gold centrally on the lid. The lock stamped CHUBB'S PATENT, 57 ST. PAUL'S CHURCHYARD S.1 LONDON, with the Royal Coat of Arms, and CHUBB & SONS MAKERS TO ... MAJESTY, and numbered 199258, with key. The circular brass escutcheon stamped CHUBB'S PATENT. At the rear of the box is the substantial brass carrying handle. The interior has raised sides & retains its original brown paper lining, with the stamp of John Peck & Sons, Nelson Square, Blackfriars SE.
