A Mid 19th Century Figured Rosewood Sewing Work Box the lid & front inlaid with engraved brass, mother O' pearl & abalone. The blue satin & velvet lined interior has a detachable tray, fitted with many compartments (four with covers), needle case, pincushions etc., with space underneath. The velvet panel inside the lid falls forward to form a wallet for letters, patterns etc. The lock is in good working order with key.
