An Early 19th Century Brass Bound Solid Cuban Mahogany box with radial edges and campaign side handles. A central brass plaque shows an engraved lion's head above a crown with the initials C.M.L. in old english charactors. The interior is lined with marbled paper, and the lid is supported by a pair of hinges, stamped E. Wells & Co. Patent, recessed so that they are invisible from the outside. The working lock is stamped J.T. Needs, 128 Piccadilly, late J. Bramah, 124 Piccadilly, with a crown.
