A Beautiful Victorian Jewellery Box, ebony edged with brass stringing & banding, and veneered all over with the finest Burr Walnut. It features a pair of campaign brass side handles, an elaborately engraved brass plaque, matching the surround to the front of the lock. The interior has stout brass prop hinges, and the ebony edge is inlaid with twin rows of brass lines and brass reinforced corners. The inside panel of the lid is lined with ivory satin decorated with red silk tufts, and drops forward to reveal a tooled leather reverse with a diamond trellis card holder. There are two fully fitted trays lined with red silk, and a deep compartment below. The interior of the box is believed to be entirely original. The working Bramah Patent lock is stamped S. Mordan & Co. London.
