A Very Fine Red Morocco Leather Documents Box with gilded brass fittings, the domed top, with applied brass initials L.C.M.V., and a substantial carrying handle. The box is secured by a Bramah lock with an Asprey Patent* sliding front, and retains its original key. The Edward's Patent hinge allows the lid to remain open at any position.
The interior is stamped ASPREY LONDON in large gold letters on the bottom of the lid, and has a removable tray covered with matching red morocco leather, and the accessories also match. A deep compartment below the tray offers plenty of storage space. The accessories comprise:
- Two removable pen trays.
- A folder containing all the original unused blotting pages.
- A toilet accessory pack fitted with one large & one small pair of scissors & two penknives (all stamped Asprey, 166 Bond St.), one unused lead pencil (stamped Houghton, Gunn & Asprey, 166 New Bond St.W.,), A propelling pencil, a skin scraper and a button hook.
- A spring opening ink well, and a matching 'Light' box.
Inside the lid the back panel displays the date 1907-1909 with the initials H.T.N.H.O. Behind the panel there is a trellis of leather straps forming six squares.
The box is in excellent condition including the gilded brass fittings, having never been used, and always having been kept in its hide leather travelling case.

*Asprey Patent Sliding Lock Front: To open the box you slide the front to the right and the lid rises to enable you to lift it. The key locks the front of the lock. Consequently you do not have to worry about leaving the key inside the box.
