A Fine & Unusual Victorian Travelling Correspondence Box made for Edward Solomon (1855-1895) the English composer, conductor, pianist and theatrical producer. With radial corners and two rows of recessed straps the solid flame mahogany box opens out to a divided interior with an assortment of compartments, some with covers. Inside the top a sprung panel opens out to a writing surface lined with the original dark blue baize covering. The recess in the sprung panel would have held envelopes kept in place by the brass bar. The Bramah Patent lock retains its original key,
