A Black Canvas bound Despatch Box C1940, the bevelled top bearing the Royal Insignia of George VI and embossed 'British Embassy Washington'. The brass swing handle is at the rear of the box and the Chubb Detector lock has been fully restored with a replacement key. The interior has raised sides and stabilising studs and bears the name & address of the maker , John Peck & Son Surrey Row Blackfriars Road SE. The number 35 is stamped on the lid in three locations and the number 4 is stencilled in white in the top.
Condition: Some bruising, but otherwise good, commensurate with age and wartime conditions.
