EDWARDS 21 KINGS STREET BLOOMSBURY SQUARE LONDON
A Large Kingwood Writing Box C 1825 by this eminent maker in excellent condition, retaining most of its original features.
The box has recessed side handles and is edged with brass quadrants and is bordered at the top & front with an inlaid geometric design.
All interior edges have brass lines and reinforcement at the corners. The original blue leather writing surface is in excellent condition with its fine gilded tooling. The smaller 'Edwards' trade label is displayed on the reverse of the lower flap and the original lattice work cord is in good condition.The upper section is lockable with its own key. It lifts to reveal the spring-out panel behind which are three hidden drawers. The larger trade label is displayed on the reverse of the flap. At the top end of the box, a pen & nib tray can be lifted out & used separately. It is flanked by the box's original pair of brass crown top ink bottles
The lock stamped J. Bramah 124 Piccadilly retains its original key.
