A Regency Period Octagonal Harewood Box inlaid to the top and sides with ovals of exotic woods including Burr yew, Kingwood, Walnut & Olive, the top also with foliate swags & garlands, and each panel is framed with checkered arrow flight borders. This was a popular form of decoration for tea caddies, and it is extremely rare to find it decorating boxes as large as this one.
The interior has been lined with silk velvet, and the interior of the lid is ruched.
