Domestic Country House Post Letter Boxes were situated in the entrance halls of Victorian & Edwardian stately homes, as well as country houses and town houses. Residents & guests would post their letters in the box which would be emptied one or twice a day by the butler or footman who would then deliver the letters to the post office. This is a particularly fine & rare example.
