A 1st World War Red Leather cloth Dispatch Box with rear swing handle, the top with the Royal Cipher of George V, and stamped WAR CABINET. The  Chubb Detector lock with diamond escutcheon is in good working order.

The interior, with raised sides and locating pins, retains its original cream card lining, which displays the manufacturer's stamp. This box was used by George Nathaniel Curzon during the First World War when he was a member of Asquith's, and later Lloyd George's, war cabinet.
