A very fine Tooled Black Morocco Leather Writing Box with a campaign gilt brass handle / escutcheon in front of a Bramah lock, the top bearing the following inscription:

in gold lettering.

The interior components are decorated with double gold lines. Beneath the writing surface there is a matching blotting folder, and opposite the two two larger flaps cover a latched pouch on one side, and writing tools, including an etched mother o' pearl rule and ink scraper, on the other. In the centre a false mahogany floor covers a secret compartment, and springs up by means of a clever mechanism. At one side the narrow compartment contains a set of Berry's Patent tooled leather Ink well and light box, both in excellent condition, as well as a detachable ebony tray.
