C 1900
In excellent condition and of good colour this Oak Post Letters box was retailed around 1905 by Asprey, London, whose ivory label appears on the reverse of the door. Below the beveled edged top, the brass plate has a slot for posting, and is engraved with the word LETTERS. The glazed door is divided into two windows, the one above showing times of posting etc., and below displaying the contents of the box. A panel in the back of the door can be removed to alter times of posting. The post box retains its original lock & key.
