ASPREY MANUFACTURER TO HER MAJESTY. 166 BOND ST. W.
A Victorian Black Morocco Leather Documents Box C1860, the top bordered by two rows of gilt lines with an Asprey's Patent two part handle lying flush with the back plate. At the press of a cleverly concealed button both parts spring up and come together. On either side of the handle there is a roundel, on the left hand side engraved with the words 'Asprey's Patent', and on the right '166 Bond St. London'. The right hand circle is the handle release button. The back plate is engraved with a complex engraved monogram.
The dark blue velvet lined interior has raised walls, a trellis work of ribbon inside the lid and 'ASPREY MANUFACTURER TO HER MAJESTY. 166 BOND STREET. W.' in gilt tooled letters between the hinges. The hinges are partially concealed, and are an Edward's Patent. The lock stamped Bramah London is in good working order with its original key.
