A Victorian Morocco Leather Bound writing Box in remarkably fine condition, complete with all its original accessories. The exterior features a central recessed brass carrying handle, and a circular key escutcheon, stamped Chubb's Patent. The stationary compartment inside the lid can be made to spring forward, for easier access, by means of a half moon brass button. Below, the accessories include a 12" ivory ruler, a large ivory letter opener/page turner, pen, pencil, lead case, and a pair of scissors. At the rear, a removable caddy is fitted with campaign ink well, matching light box, and a pen tray. The three ceramic writing slates are in good condition. They can be used with a pencil or felt tipped pen, and cleaned with a damp cloth. The black leather writing surface is revealed when the box is opened again. There is ample extra storage for stationery beneath both sections. The lock is stamped Chubb's Patent (with the Royal Insignia), 57 St Pauls Churchyard London. Chubb & Sons makers to Her Majesty.
