A Victorian Red Morocco Stationery Cabinet with a central recessed brass handle, the the two doors unlocking to reveal the fully fitted matching interior with calendars (replacements) inside both doors behind glass, and below which are are a pair of compartments with hinged covers and a pair of leather clad travelling ink wells. There are three small drawers and one full width drawer (this is hidden at the behind the pen channel). All the blotting paper inside the leather folder is unused, and the 'addresses' & 'calling books' have not been used. Also featured are six postage stamp pockets, and a detachable ceramic writing slate.
A full set of tools is fitted inside the lid, consisting of a 12" ivory rule, pen, pencil, page turner. piercing tool, bone handled ink scraper knife, and a pair of scissors.
The cabinet is in remarkably fine & unused condition, retaining all if its original matching contents. The gilding of all the brass fittings is as fresh as new.
The Bramah lock is in good working order with its original key.
The cabinet is stamped 88978, which tells us that the design was registered in 1888.
