A Laquered Brassbound Georgian Cuban Mahogany Captain's Box C1820 with campaign side handles and fitted drawer. At either side of the inside edge there is a pair of threads which were screwed into a working surface to prevent buffeting by the action of the waves. The box retains the original key for this purpose, and this is kept in its own slot on the right hand side. The key for the Turner Patent lock, and the one for the drawer, is a replacement.
