A large 1920's George V Red Morocco Leather Despatch Box with central inset brass handle, stamped with the Royal Insignia and MINISTER OF PENSIONS and THE Rt. HON. F.O ROBERTS, M.P*.
The interior, with raised sides and locating pins, is lined with black leather cloth, the lid with diamond trellis work. The seven wafer Bramah Patent lock retains its original key.

*The Right Honourable F.O Roberts was elected Labour Member of Parliament for West Bromwich in 1918, and lost the seat to the Conservatives in 1931. He was re-elected in 1935.
He was sworn in as Privy Counsellor in 1924, when he was appointed as Minister of Pensions in Ramsey MacDonald's first Labour Government. He held the same post in the 1929-1931 Labour Government. He died in 1941, aged 65.
