A Miniature 1920's Black Leather Cloth covered Cabinet surmounted by a brass plate with a folding handle and a copper depiction of a sphinx*. The brass mounted door opening to reveal three drawers with faceted brass handles engraved 'Gold', Silver & 'Notes'.
N.B. The lock is not working. The key has been replaced by a brass knob handle.
This item was made to celebrate the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun by Howard Carter in The Valley of the Kings in 1922. The event captured the public's imagination, and many items like this became popular souvenirs.
