FISHER 188 STRAND
A slightly battered, but sound, Black Leather clad Despatch Box used during the 1875 investigation of the Royal Commission into the treatment of immigrants in Mauritius. Queen Victoria's initials V.R are stamped above the inset brass handle in the lid. The box was retailed by Fisher, 188 Strand, whose name & address is stamped internally between the hinges. The Bramah lock retains its original key.
