A rare Victorian Golden Oak Domestic Pillar Box featuring the posting slot across the hexagonal top, below which is an applied brass royal crown, flanked by the initials VR. The front opening door is piano hinged, and retains its original lock & key. In the front of the door a notice shows times of collections behind curved glass and within a brass frame. The interior retains its original black morocco leather lining. The engraved brass diamond registration mark in the front of the base shows the letter I, the code for 1872.
