An interesting Red Leather Documents/Despatch Box, with original studs and central swing handle and lock escutcheon. The top is embossed with
The Royal Insignia of George III
and inscribed:
'His Most Sacred Majesty King George III
grant
to James Kelsey and others 1799'
The paper lined interior features the trade label of Joseph Swift, trunk & chest maker.
This 225 year old box is in very fine condition commensurate with its age. None of the fittings appear to have been changed or added.
